About Leartiker:
Leartiker is a technology centre whose mission is to add value to the business fabric through R&D and innovation activities and their appropriate transfer into polymer technology and food technology.
Leartiker Tecnología de Polímeros has more than ten years of experience in the field of healthcare technology and develops new biocompatible polymeric materials for use in medical devices in three main areas: Microfluidics, Tissue engineering and medical devices.
Microfluidics: Development of microfluidic structures or point-of-care devices from material to process, surface treatments and functionalisation and injection or injection-compression manufacturing process for replicability and optical properties.
Tissue Engineering: Development of biomaterials and manufacturing processes for tissue regeneration, characterisation of scaffolds and hydrogels manufactured by bioprinting.
Development of Medical Devices: The company’s objective is to understand and provide solutions to the needs of doctors in order to develop devices that help them in their daily work. It also develops patient-specific devices based on silicone and thermoplastic materials, from idea to pre-series. In the future, in conjunction with new advances in artificial intelligence and big data, it is expected that they will contribute to developing devices that can offer almost personalised diagnoses and treatments thanks to the integration of sensors in these medical devices. This will make it possible to move forward in the prevention and improvement of integral health.
All of the company’s development is carried out under ISO 13485 in the ISO7 white room in order to ensure the quality management of medical devices.
Following the Basque Health Research and Innovation strategy, the company is promoting collaboration between the health system, the business system and the science and technology system. The company is developing and exporting new developments, creating knowledge and providing solutions to healthcare challenges in collaboration with international partners in European projects, hospitals and physicians. These strategic partnerships make it possible to test and validate new devices in the clinical environment.
Two technological areas, polymers and food, in which services aimed at personalised health are being developed, are promoting the relationship between research into health and into food, with a view to developing increasingly healthier foodstuffs.
