The University of Deusto is a dynamic institution committed to promoting research excellence, with the internationalisation of research at the heart of its strategic plan. Our innovative 6 ‘I’s model focuses on the critical and expanding role of universities as social innovators and proposes ways to shape performance through principles of collaboration (internationalisation, interdisciplinarity and intersectoriality) and action (impact, innovation and inclusion). The research group of more than 500 academics, 36 research teams (24 of them with external recognition by the Basque Government), 9 prestigious research centres and 5 International Interdisciplinary Research Platforms embody DEUSTO in a fertile research ecosystem. DEUSTO’s long history of leading and participating in around 100 international projects (funded by different programmes from FP6 to Horizon Europe, UK Research Councils, USA Foundations,…) has consolidated the institution in the field of international research.

Faculty of Health
The new Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Deusto aims to focus on the challenges that society presents us with in the field of health.
In this sense, we train excellently qualified professionals in the area, capable of integrating their scientific and research dimension with their professional competence and their more human dimension.
The University of Deusto aims to be an agent for promoting social change through the generation of scientific knowledge, in order to achieve greater levels of well-being (personal and social) and quality of life for all people (more and more people) with the aim of achieving a more inclusive, participatory, just and democratic society. With research, we seek a balance between the development of scientific knowledge (research) and intervention in society (action).
Faculty of Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering has been characterised from the outset for offering innovative studies adapted to the social and professional reality. The impulse in teaching innovation, the practical nature of the studies, the care in the orientation of the students, the permanent contact with the companies that employ our engineers, have been some of the hallmarks that have always characterised us. Recently, our training offer has been extended with the study of Biomedical Engineering.
Its Deusto Institute of Technology – DeustoTech is an applied research centre whose mission is to support research, the development of new technology, innovation and knowledge transfer, all in collaboration with the social and business fabric. One of our research teams is dedicated to health.
