VIVEbiotech has received the “Innovacion Empresarial/Business Innovation” award at the XXXII edition of the La Noche de la Empresa Vasca/Basque Business Night for its management model to boost the new biotechnology industry.
Event organized by the Fundación Empresa Vasca y Sociedad/Gizarte eta Euskal Enpresa Fundazioa with the main sponsorship of Kutxabank, the support of the companies Dinof and Inbisa, and the participation of ‘Cope’ as a collaborating media, the gala took place at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
The Jury distinguished the business career of Leire Alberdi Olavegoya, CEO of Grupo Alberdi as ‘‘Mejor Empresario Vasco 2022/Best Basque Entrepreneur 2022”. In addition to awarding VIVEbiotech with the “Innovacion Empresarial/Business Innovation” prize, the Jury of the awards also highlighted the work of Lointek with the “Made in Euskadi” award for the international impact of their project, and that of Protec Arisawa Europe to whom they presented the “Euskal Makila”, a company founded in 1971 that thirteen years ago integrated the Biscayan manufacturer of FRP pressure vessels.
The awards were presented by the winners of the previous edition. Mariano Ucar Angulo, CEO of Faes Farma, presented Leire Alberdi with the plaque recognizing her as “Mejor Empresario Vasco 2022/Best Basque Entrepreneur 2022”. Asier Alea, director of global development at Basque Culinary Center, handed over the “Made in Euskadi” award to Serafín Loroño, CEO of Lointek, and Lorenzo Mendieta, CEO of Alcorta Forging Group, handed over the “Business Innovation” baton to Gurutz Linazasoro, CEO of VIVEbiotech.
The Guggenheim event opened with a speech by Eduardo Ruiz de Gordejuela, CEO of Kutxabank, and closed with the awarding of the “Euskal Makila” to the Japanese multinational Arisawa, which was represented by the general manager of its Biscayan subsidiary, Gonzalo Ortega, who received the distinction from the Basque Government’s Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, Arantxa Tapia, who was in charge of closing the event.
As Gurutz said in his speech after receiving the award, “…we are 110 people brimming with passion and talent, 75% young women. And we innovate. Out of conviction and necessity.”
