The Basque Health Cluster creates the José Miguel Azkoitia Award, in tribute to one of the actors who dedicated the utmost commitment and effort to activating the Bio-Health sector in the Basque Country.
The purpose of the award
Its aim is to distinguish outstanding individuals or entities who work to promote the Biosciences and Healthcare sector in the Basque Country and who have had a positive impact on the development of the Basque Health Cluster or the sector as a whole. The Basque Health Cluster will present this award every two years.
The period for submitting applications is between April 21, 2021 and May 21, 2021 at midnight.
The application must contain the identification details of the person or entity proposed for the award, identification details of the proposer and a brief justification of a maximum of 3,000 characters.
The jury that will evaluate the candidates will be made up of members of the board of directors of the Basque Health Cluster, who will meet at an ordinary board meeting after the closing date for the submission of applications.
The award will not involve a monetary prize. A commemorative sculpture will be given at a public event.

José Miguel Azkoitia Artetxe
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a PhD from the University of the Basque Country. He also carried out academic activities linked to the University of the Basque Country and the Complutense University of Madrid, among others. He was Healthcare Business Development Manager at TECNALIA. His research career focused on the areas of Biomedical Engineering, Health Technologies, Robotics and ICTs. He also combined his teaching, research and management activities with disseminating science and technology in the media.
