The research and technological development centre will have a stand at the Food Industry Fair, which takes place from 26 to 29 September at the Fira de Barcelona exhibition centre, and will present different production trends and needs, such as samples of food resulting from the application of innovative technologies.
The TECNALIA research and technological development centre, the largest in Spain, works hand in hand with companies in the sector in the development of technological solutions to anticipate the main challenges of the future. In this way, it promotes business competitiveness, while at the same time contributing to improving people’s quality of life in different areas.
Thus, it will present its initiatives in the field of ingredients at the Alimentaria Foodtech Fair, which will take place at Fira de Barcelona – Gran Vía – from 26 to 29 September, where technologies and products that make up the value chain of the production and preservation of food and beverages will be presented.
The centre will once again participate in this event, at stand A226, where it will present its main technological solutions for the food industry sector. TECNALIA, true to its commitment to the food industry, continues with its firm commitment to the development of solutions that increase the competitiveness and sustainability of companies and improve people’s quality of life through the development of healthy ingredients and foods.
At Alimentaria FoodTech 2023, it will present innovative assets and technological developments in the field of natural, technological and functional ingredients to improve the quality and nutritional value of food, increase its shelf life, reduce the presence of undesirable compounds and even develop functional foods that can help prevent diseases of high incidence today to help improve people’s quality of life.
Inés Alonso Zapirain, head of market development in the area of circularity at TECNALIA, will also participate with a presentation on Thursday 28th from 12:00 to 13:00 in the speakers’ corner on “Preventing food waste: opportunities for technological innovation in packaging”.
TECNALIA’s work focuses on obtaining and developing natural ingredients and foods adapted to the demands of an increasingly health-conscious society. The aim is to obtain, always in a sustainable way, ingredients, foods and food supplements that are personalised and adapted to the needs of each individual, to guarantee personalised nutrition that helps to prevent illnesses.
At the fair, the centre will present a box with different solutions for the food business: active compounds obtained from different raw materials; microcapsules to guarantee the bioavailability and functionality of active compounds; alternatives to extend the life of foodstuffs or food samples resulting from the application of innovative technologies.
TECNALIA is the technological partner that accompanies food companies on their path towards innovation, in search of ingredients and foods that help to improve the competitiveness of the sector and people’s quality of life. Its technological activity enables the development of foods with high nutritional value, the valorisation of by-products as new sources of income and its commitment to personalised nutrition as a tool for disease prevention. Together with the agri-food sector, the centre works on the development of technological solutions to anticipate the main challenges posed by the future of the sector. And in this sense, technology plays a fundamental role in food production processes, as well as in the competitiveness of production companies.
The centre monitors, digitalises and optimises the chain of raw materials, processes and products in the agri-food sector. It is also key to sustainability in this sector. In addition, the technology centre develops technological solutions for efficient, sustainable and competitive production in this field. Specifically, it supports the implementation and acceleration of decarbonisation processes in the food industry, and provides companies with innovative technological tools to improve their competitiveness through energy savings, the integration of renewables, greater energy security and the reduction of environmental impact.
