On 26 June, the third Green Encounter organised by Diario De Noticias De Álava took place, with the participation of the director of the Basque Health Cluster, Idoia Muñoz Lizán, as a speaker at a round table discussion based on the need to put people at the centre of the smart society, the digitalisation process and the promotion of the Smart Society. She was accompanied by Fernando López De Eguilaz, Director of Kutxabank Eragin; Iñigo Azcona Arriola, Sales Director in Spain and Portugal of Irizar e-mobility; and Pedro Otazua, Smart Cities Product Manager in the Northern Area of Iberdrola.
Our director wanted to emphasise “the importance of innovating with the value chain, with the patient and with the industry”. She reminded us that “health is a challenge that cuts across all sectors” and that we must think about sustainability in environmental terms. Muñoz emphasised the green concept several times, pointing out that “the smart thing is to move towards the concept of sustainability in all areas”. In short, our director sought to put the concept of “sustainable intelligence” on the table in order to address this drive towards a smart society.
With regard to the priorities for our cluster, our director wanted to make it clear that data is one of the “strategic pillars” and that it is also “key to improving our healthcare system and the competitiveness of our companies”. She also stressed that “data is key to achieving personalised, preventive, predictive, participatory and population-based health”.
At the round table, other speakers also emphasised that “we must invest all the investment and development efforts made in the Basque Country in our society, being more sensitive to the product we have here”. At this point, Idoia Muñoz wanted to refer to the Km0 strategy that the cluster is developing, through different initiatives and projects such as Osasunberri and Osasun Km0, concluding that “we compete at an international level and it is essential to take advantage of our synergies at a local level to become strong”.
