Madrid, May 30, 2024.- Bolsa Social, the first impact investment ecosystem authorized by the CNMV, has just completed the crowdlending round of the Spanish technology company IRISBOND, after reaching the maximum expected amount of 400,000 euros just one month after its launch. The round has involved a total of 125 investors, with stakes starting at 50 euros.
The objective of the round is to allow the Spanish company to consolidate its eye-tracking and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) technologies and have treasury to meet the increase in demand for its “eye-tracking” solution, following its recent inclusion in the catalog of authorized products for prescription within the National Health System. These products solve communication barriers for people with speech difficulties, such as patients with ALS or cerebral palsy, enabling them to communicate through a device (computer or tablet) using their gaze and are currently being prescribed in 11 Autonomous Communities: Aragon, Asturias, Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y Leon, Catalonia, Galicia, Murcia, Navarra, and Basque Country.
Eduardo Jáuregui, co-founder and CEO of IRISBOND, stated “we are proud to have successfully closed the financing round in just one month, demonstrating the interest that our technological solutions arouse, both among investors and in society in general. We wanted to involve society to generate an impact on society itself. This commitment has shown us that there is appetite and awareness in impact investment.”
Fernando Summers, CEO of Bolsa Social, mentioned that “IRISBOND is a clear example of a social impact company. Its technology changes people’s lives, enabling them to have fluent communication and interactions in their daily lives that would not be possible without it. Our community of investors has responded quickly to this investment opportunity, allowing us to close the round in a short period. This demonstrates the future growth potential of IRISBOND.”
About IRISBOND
IRISBOND, founded in 2013 by Eduardo Jáuregui, designs and manufactures digital devices equipped with eye-tracking technology, which detects the user’s pupil using infrared light and allows communication with the gaze as if using a mouse. These devices facilitate communication, reading, social interaction, and personal development for individuals with special needs. IRISBOND was born with the idea of making electronic devices more accessible to society as a whole and particularly to people with disabilities. Among its applications, IRISBOND has found that the technology can be adapted to develop new methods for early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, a project for which it is collaborating with universities and biomedical research centers. IRISBOND’s sales grew by 58% in 2022 compared to the previous year. The company exports 75-80% of its sales to Europe, the US, and Latin America. Additionally, it has secured various public tenders that guarantee the right to communication through gaze for those in need within the national health system.
