On Tuesday, July 4th, Mikrobiomik, a biotechnology company, was honored with the “SMEs Bizkaia” award in the category of Social Responsibility. In a high standard competition with 1800 other SMEs, Mikrobiomik presented its project at the contest sponsored by Banco Santander. Its revolutionary proposal is based on a biological drug developed from intestinal microbiota, still in R&D phase. Intermediate results support the efficacy of its medicine and its potential to save lives, which makes the company very proud of having obtained this recognition in the field of social responsibility.
The “Pymes Bizkaia” award is organized by Banco Santander Spain and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, with the collaboration of the news group El Correo.
On Wednesday, July 5, Mikrobiomik once again stood out by winning the award for Best Idea/Project. After reaching the final phase of the competition, where they faced four start-ups that presented their projects and innovative ideas, the company won the prestigious award. The ceremony took place at Tekniker’s facilities, in the presence of authorities and referents of the entrepreneurial sector of the Basque Country.
An outstanding jury composed of important organizations such as SPRI, CEBEK, BIC Gipuzkoa, the City Council of Eibar, the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, among others, was in charge of voting and choosing Mikrobiomik as the winner of this recognition.
This illustrious award, known as “Toribio Echevarría”, has been given for over 33 years and is organized by the City Council of Eibar and BIC Gipuzkoa, its objective is to recognize innovative ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives that promote the culture of innovation and the transformation of the industrial and business fabric in the Basque Country.
Mikrobiomik continues to be a pioneer in the biotechnology business and its innovative work has been appropriately recognized with these two prestigious awards.
