On the 8th of November, Tuesday, BIOLAN participated in the monitoring meeting of the OSASUN KM0 partnership. During this meeting, the progress of the project and the necessary steps to create and establish a KM0 ecosystem for the health sector in the Basque Country were discussed.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become evident that a strong and resilient health infrastructure is needed. The goal is to ensure that medical devices, diagnostic technologies, and other essential products can be designed, manufactured, and distributed locally, while creating synergies among universities, technology centers, health sector companies, and the Basque health system itself.
This also helps promote innovation and create knowledge, thereby generating distinctive value in the territory, as well as strengthening the commitment to sustainability by minimizing the carbon footprint associated with importing products from other regions or countries and fostering appropriate environmental practices.
The OSASUN KM0 project was created to address all these challenges by establishing a partnership formed by eight leading Basque companies in the health sector. The objective of this project is to build a local, effective, and comprehensive health sector and to develop an advanced support system in our community.
BIOLAN is working on various technological solutions to address different needs in the field of diagnostics within the health sector, ranging from enzymatic biosensing technology to lateral flow immunoassays.
In collaboration with Tekniker, a technological center that is a member of the BASQUE RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE (BRTA), BIOLAN is working together within the framework of the OSASUN KM0 project to combine resources and synergies and achieve greater scientific and technological excellence. Tekniker will provide BIOLAN with its experience in the manufacturing of support technologies and the development of medical devices.
Joining forces through collaboration between the health system, the scientific-technological system, and the business fabric is essential for facing the challenges posed by such a dynamic and rigorous sector as health.
Advancing one’s health industry allows for better preparation for future challenges and helps strengthen R&D strategies that will reinforce the KM0 health value chain, increasing competitiveness and growth while building a healthier society.
Currently, BIOLAN is designing a first prototype to develop a new measurement device for application in the health sector. Within the framework of the OSASUN KM0 project, it will help build the local health sector and an advanced assistance system.
