The Bilbao-based startup has presented in Madrid its artificial intelligence (AI) solution for the diagnosis of oral pathologies before a jury of investors and representatives of the healthcare industry.
myDentist has been selected by the accelerator Kunsen Digital Health among dozens of startups in the e-health sector to present its solution based on Deep Learning models in front of a Selection Committee made up of representatives from hospitals and venture capital investors.
myDentist is a digital tool for the automatic diagnosis of oral pathologies that allows professionals to obtain an initial assessment of the patient’s intraoral situation based on image recognition and analysis algorithms, acquired from the patient’s own mobile device.
This solution provides an agile, personalised, efficient and controlled service, and allows professionals in the sector to identify pathologies quickly and plan the necessary interventions for their treatment, adjusting the times of the patient’s visits and providing a service based on a robust digital analysis tool.
On the patient’s side, myDentist technology provides a free pre-diagnosis, minimising the need for invasive interventions, and offers the advantages of telemedicine, reducing visits to the surgery, travel costs and waiting time, and facilitating permanent care with remote specialists.
Accelerating growth
myDentist has presented its initiative alongside seven other healthtech startups from across the country, including solutions such as Medicsen‘s needle-free wearable drug delivery device and the Ephion Health chronic neuromuscular disease monitoring system.
The Kunsen Selection Committee, made up of doctors, investors and public health representatives from different regions, showed great interest in the technology and the link between the diagnosis of oral pathologies and the prevention of systemic pathologies, a situation that is reflected in recent publications by Harvard Medical School or ScienceDirect and which is the subject of multiple investigations.
Unlike digital tools for analysing radiological images used in medicine and dentistry (X-rays, CT scans, etc.) myDentist can analyse images taken from patients’ smartphones to identify and assess the severity of more than 30 oral and dental pathologies such as gingivitis, periodontitis, truncal disease or recessions.
Only three of the eight startups will access the six-month acceleration process offered by Kunsen Digital Health to facilitate the entry into the market of innovative technological solutions of high health value.
