As it did last year, this month the Basque Government’s Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment published the aid programmes for Basque SMEs for 2022. The 2021 SME Aid Plan of the Basque Government managed to promote 8,096 projects with a total investment of 2,059 million euros.
This year it has 74 compared to 68 of last year. In addition, the budget for this year has increased by more than 100 million euros, from 430 million to 590 million this year. The objectives of these aids are to reactivate the economy and generate quality employment, promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
R&D&I and energy transition will play a key role, accounting for more than 70% of the aids. Other areas on which the aids are focused will be investments in industry, internationalisation and the promotion of the economy and employment in rural and coastal areas.
