From April 3-5, 2025, Vitoria-Gasteiz will host the 1st MiKS Congress on Biological Therapies, an event designed to update on biological treatments in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, the present and future of these therapies in the field of pain, as well as to explore their potential as the practice of choice in the coming years. During these three days, therefore, crucial topics related to PRP and cellular therapies, including adult cells, and their application in various medical disciplines will be addressed. This three-day congress brings together leading experts to address key issues, foster debate and consensus in a constantly evolving discipline.
Main Topics of the Congress
- Joint degeneration
We will delve into orthobiologics as a tool in the treatment of osteoarthritis and other joint pathologies. From the cellular mechanisms of degeneration to the clinical applications of products such as PRP and stem cells, this block will address the latest evidence and current controversies in the field.
- Pain and sports medicine
We will look at how biological therapies are impacting pain and sports injury medicine. Sessions dedicated to peripheral nerves, spine, ligaments, muscles, tendons and meniscus will offer a multidisciplinary and practical view, with a space for open discussions between speakers and attendees.
- Horizons in regenerative therapies
Addressing key issues in biological therapies that may mark the future of orthobiologics, such as inflammatory processes and their impact, the emerging role of bioprinting, pediatric application, regulatory challenges facing new therapies and how to better involve the patient in the decision-making process, considering their expectations and long-term outcomes.
Complementary activities
In addition, complementary activities, such as Breakfast rounds and Expert battles, will further enrich the program. These sessions will provide valuable additional information, encourage the exchange of innovative ideas and allow attendees to delve deeper into specific topics in a dynamic and participatory way.
Presentation of scientific communications
The congress opens the opportunity to present scientific communications in poster format, an ideal space to share advances, research and innovative experiences with the professional community.
Overall, the congress offers a space for updating, debate and consensus building in a discipline that aims to improve the quality of life and functional recovery of patients through advanced biological therapies. Simultaneous translation will be provided in all sessions, facilitating the participation of attendees from different countries.
